On September 14, Train Y499, a tourist train, departed from Xi'an Railway Station in Shaanxi province and headed west toward Almaty, Kazakhstan, after leaving China through Horgos Port in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region. It was the second China-Central Asia Cultural Tourism Train (Xi'an-Almaty) operated this year, marking the service's transition from pilot operation to regular service.
