Underwater Section of World's Largest High-Speed
Railway Shield Tunnel Breaks Through

"Linghang", the world's largest-diameter shield tunneling machine for high-speed railway construction that was independently developed by China, has crossed the Yangtze River and reached Shaft No 2. This marks the breakthrough of the underwater section of the Chongming-Taicang Yangtze River Tunnel, laying the foundation for high-speed trains to cross the Yangtze River at 350 kilometers per hour without slowing down. Connecting Chongming in Shanghai with Taicang in Jiangsu province, the tunnel has a total length of 14.25 kilometers. It is currently one of China's most technically demanding high-speed railway tunnel projects crossing the Yangtze River and is being built to the country's highest construction standards.
