On May 29, the test run on the Shaanxi section of the Xi'an-Shiyan High Speed Railway officially commenced. Passing through the three cities of Xi'an, Shangluo and Shiyan, the Xi'an-Shiyan High Speed Railway features a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour and constitutes an important part of the national "Eight North-South and Eight East-West" high speed railway network. Upon opening, it will reduce the travel time between Xi'an and Wuhan to three hours.
