On February 11, at the Qingdao North EMU Depot of the Qingdao EMU Section under CR-Jinan, staff at various posts were inspecting and maintaining EMU trains entering the workshop. The site can be regarded as a “hospital” for EMU trains. During the Spring Festival travel rush, trains arrive here one after another for maintenance and inspection to ensure safe operation during the travel season.
In the busy workshop, 25-year-old mechanic Han Baolong is inspecting related equipment of an EMU train in the temporary repair workshop. As a post-2000 railway employee who joined the railway in 2021, Han Baolong has now become one of the youngest backbone technicians in the workshop for temporary repairs, proficiently mastering the replacement of major components such as EMU wheelsets, main transformers, pantographs and front windshields. “I will stay at the depot for the Spring Festival this year,” Han Baolong said. His hometown is Yingkou in Liaoning province, and due to work needs this year he will spend the holiday with EMU trains, staying at his post.
