On January 7, a rail-sea intermodal train, loaded with 108 “Chongqing-made” new energy vehicles, departed from Yuzui Railway Station at Chongqing Guoyuan Port. It is expected to arrive at Guangzhou Nansha Port in 48 hours, after which the vehicles will be transferred to a ship for shipment to the Middle East market. This train is the first rail-sea intermodal “Chongqing-made” new energy vehicle train of 2026. It also represents one of the first large-scale transport operations conducted since the official launch of the "Pilot Program for Mutual Recognition of Maritime Supervision on New Energy Vehicle Rail-Sea Intermodal Transport between Chongqing and Guangzhou" in late December 2025.
As a major national automotive industry base, Chongqing city has already established stable eastbound and southbound rail-sea intermodal freight train services via Ningbo in Zhejiang province and Qinzhou in Guangxi province.
