On November 25, at the track-laying site of the Harbin-Yichun High Speed Railway section managed by CR-Harbin in Qing’an of Suihua city, Heilongjiang province, workers tightened the final pair of rail bolts with electric wrenches, marking the completion of track-laying along the whole line of the Harbin-Yichun High Speed Railway, a key project of the 14th Five-Year Plan and China’s northernmost high-speed railway currently under construction.

The Harbin-Yichun High Speed Railway is an important extension of the Harbin-Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao corridor within China’s “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed railway network. It is also the highest-latitude high-speed railway under construction and the one with the largest annual temperature variation. Track-laying officially began on May 28, 2024. CR-Harbin organized construction units to overcome challenges such as extremely low temperatures and short construction windows in high-cold regions. CR-2nd Bureau adopted a sleeper-group installation method, achieving an average daily track-laying progress of 2.5 kilometers, increasing efficiency by 50% compared with traditional methods.
