High-speed trains drive tourism, and tourism fuels consumption. During the recently concluded National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Inner Mongolia emerged as one of China's most popular travel destinations. According to the Inner Mongolia Department of Culture and Tourism, the region received 25.312 million domestic tourists during the holiday, up 10.28% year on year, with total domestic tourism spending reaching RMB 17.686 billion, a 9.77% increase year on year.
From comfortable "silver tours" for senior travelers, to music-festival charter trains, to scenic rides through golden poplar forests—themed trains of the Grassland Railway are painting a dynamic new picture of cultural and tourism prosperity across northern China. Over the 62-day summer transport season, the Grassland Railway carried 9.289 million passengers, a record high; during the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, it handled 1.501 million passengers, again setting a new record. Each new record of the Grassland Railway this year vividly reflects the growing vitality of regional development in Inner Mongolia.
