As of September 22, a total of 26,000 TEUs of export cargo have been shipped this year by China-Vietnam freight trains originating from Guangxi, marking a year-on-year increase of 173% and exceeding 33% of the total volume for 2024. This growth has injected strong momentum into regional industrial and supply chain stability as well as trade exchanges.
Currently, the fastest freight service from Nanningnan Railway Station to Yên Viên Railway Station in Vietnam takes only 14 hours, enabling same-day departure, arrival and customs clearance. Since the beginning of the year, CR-Nanning has worked with the Vietnam Railway Authority to increase the maximum traction capacity of cross-border freight trains from 1,000 tons to 1,300 tons and raise train frequency from 5 to 14 services per week.
With continuous improvements to the infrastructure of Nanning International Railway Port, China-Vietnam freight services are evolving toward higher quality, diversification and digitalization. The trains now carry a wide range of goods, including electronics, agricultural and sideline products, and daily necessities, covering 412 types of cargo sourced from 25 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities across China. The China-Vietnam freight train service has become an important overland trade corridor linking China with Vietnam and other ASEAN countries.
