On September 28, the Xiangyang-Jingmen High Speed Railway officially opened to traffic, reducing the travel time between Xiangyangdong and Jingmenxi to as fast as 29 minutes, injecting new momentum into the coordinated regional economic and social development. The Xiangyang-Jingmen High Speed Railway starts from Xiangyangdong Railway Station on the Zhengzhou-Chongqing High Speed Railway and connects to Jingmenxi Railway Station on the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High Speed Railway. The line spans 116 kilometers and has a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour.
At Jingmenxi Railway Station, the new line connects with the existing Jingmen-Jingzhou High Speed Railway and the Wuhan-Yichang section of the Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu High Speed Railway, which is under trial operation and about to open. At Xiangyangdong Railway Station, it connects with the operational Zhengzhou-Chongqing High Speed Railway and the Hankou-Shiyan section of the Wuhan-Xi'an High Speed Railway. As a critical regional link, the line holds an important position in the railway network. Its opening further improves the high-speed rail layout in western Hubei, greatly facilitates travel for residents along the route, and better drives regional economic growth. It plays a vital role in promoting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Midstream City Cluster and supporting the rise of Central China.
