At 8:28 a.m. local time on July 30, the fifth "Lancang" EMU, jointly developed by CRRC Dalian Co., Ltd., departed from Vientiane Railway Station for Boten Railway Station as train C96. This marks another major milestone in the operation of the China-Laos Railway, further enhancing transport capacity and injecting new momentum into the region's economic and social development.

As the main EMU model on the Lao section of the China-Laos Railway, the "Lancang" EMU is jointly developed by subsidiaries of CRRC and integrates advanced Chinese EMU technologies with Laotian cultural elements. The newly added EMU features upgraded power cars, enhanced paint techniques achieving a mirror-like surface gloss of 95GU, and a fuller appearance. The body is coated with new environmentally friendly paint, with a clear coat thickness about three times the standard, better suited to Laos' tropical climate, ensuring long-term stable operation.

The "Lancang" EMU uses a centralized power design, with a maximum operating speed of 160 km/h, combining high safety and comfort. Passenger carriages are equipped with international standard seating, air-conditioning and passenger information systems, incorporating traditional Laotian clothing patterns to reflect the integration of Chinese and Laotian cultures.

The China-Laos Railway is a landmark Belt and Road Initiative project. Since its opening, the Lao section has transported over 10.05 million passengers and more than 14.6 million tons of cargo. The addition of the new "Lancang" EMU will further increase train frequency on the Lao section by 15%, with daily passenger capacity rising by over 1,300 and transport efficiency significantly enhanced.
