On June 18, the first freight train along the Cross-Caspian International Transport Corridor (Jinhua-Bashi-Baku) departed from Jinhuanan Railway Station in Zhejiang province. This marks that Zhejiang CRE trains (Yiwu-Xinjiang-Europe) has pioneered another logistics corridor, expanding its railway network.
Fully loaded with 100 TEUs of daily goods, apparel and hardware accessories, the train cleared customs supervision at Jinhua and exited China via the Khorgos border. It then passed through key Central Asian cities including Almaty in Kazakhstan, Tashkent in Uzbekistan, and Ashgabat in Turkmenistan, before reaching the Turkmen port of Bashi. From there, the cargo will then be transshipped via Caspian Sea to Baku, Azerbaijan.
The upgraded route pioneers the land-sea intermodal transportation, providing enterprises with an efficient and reliable logistics option. It will enhance commodity circulation between China and the five Central Asian countries as well as the Central and Eastern European markets, promoting smooth trade between China and countries along the route.
