On May 30, Train Y29, with more than 200 passengers on board, departed from Xi’an Railway Station and headed west to Almaty, Kazakhstan, marking the inaugural launch of the China-Central Asia International Cultural Tourism Train (Xi'an-Almaty section).
This is a flagship achievement by CR in implementing the spirit of the first China-Central Asia Summit. By leveraging the strength of rail transport and working in partnership with local governments, CR has launched a cultural tourism train service designed for Central Asia.
The train adopts a segmented transport model of "domestic section + overseas section," with close cooperation between the railway authorities of China and Kazakhstan to ensure passengers enjoy a "one-stop customs clearance" experience. Operating under a "railway + culture and tourism" model, the train connects the historical and cultural threads of China and Kazakhstan. During the journey, passengers will enjoy scheduled onboard activities such as traditional Chinese medicine demonstrations, cultural lectures, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, live painting and calligraphy, and opera performances, offering a "slow travel" experience that allows for in-depth appreciation of the natural scenery and cultural richness along the route. Upon arrival in Almaty on the evening of May 31 (Kazakhstan time), a Xi'an-Almaty Cultural Tourism Exchange Week will be held.
