According to CR, on May 22, CR and COFCO Group signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Beijing. Both parties reached a broad consensus to jointly build a smooth and efficient grain logistics system, helping to reduce logistics costs across society and promote coordinated regional development and high-quality growth of the real economy. On the same day, the nation's first grain multimodal "one-bill coverage system" train, fully loaded with 3,000 tons of corn, departed from Yushu Railway Station in Jilin. It is expected to arrive at Yingkou Port in Liaoning within 15 hours, then be shipped by sea to Qinzhou Port in Guangxi. The total transportation time has been compressed from 18 days to 13 days, effectively lowering grain logistics costs.
A CR Freight Department official introduced that CR and COFCO earnestly implement the decisions and deployments of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council regarding the construction of a modern logistics system. Focusing on complementary advantages and common development, they join hands to build a smooth and efficient grain logistics system, promoting cost reduction and efficiency improvement in grain transportation. First, they ensure the safety and stability of the grain supply chain, carefully organizing north-to-south grain transport, optimizing transportation arrangements, and strengthening full-process monitoring to ensure efficient delivery, supporting grain production increase, farmers' income growth, and stable grain market supply. Second, they continuously deepen the "road-to-rail" transition for grain transport, promote the construction of railway dedicated lines for grain enterprises, improve grain loading, unloading and transshipment efficiency, and reduce "last-mile" logistics costs. Third, they vigorously develop "end-to-end" business, with CR companies actively integrating into COFCO's upstream and downstream supply chains to provide full-process logistics solutions for grain transport, reducing intermediate links and improving transportation efficiency. Fourth, they actively expand cooperation areas, advance multimodal "one-bill coverage system" operations, share logistics and trade information from both sides, and jointly strengthen state-owned enterprises.
The official pointed out that compared with traditional container multimodal transport, the "one-bill coverage system" transportation features "one-time entrustment, one-waybill through the entire process, one container through to the end and one-time settlement," reducing customers' need to communicate and negotiate documents, short-haul transport and cargo transshipment with multiple carriers such as rail and shipping companies one by one. Customers can also track cargo whereabouts throughout the process, greatly improving transportation efficiency and effectively compressing comprehensive logistics costs. On November 22, 2024, CR began piloting multimodal "one-bill coverage system" transportation. On February 28, 2025, CR signed cooperation agreements with four shipping companies to jointly carry out container multimodal "one-bill coverage system" transportation services. To date, 119 multimodal "one-bill coverage system" products have been launched. The successful launch of the nation's first grain multimodal "one-bill coverage system" train will help ensure smooth and efficient grain transportation and contribute to reducing grain logistics costs.
Looking ahead, CR and COFCO will take this strategic cooperation agreement as an opportunity to achieve a strong alliance and mutual benefit, jointly building a safe and stable grain supply chain to better serve economic and social development.
