National Railway Passenger Traffic Reaches 1.074 Billion in Q1

   On April 17, CR reported that in the first quarter of 2025, the national railway system transported 1.074 billion passengers, a YoY increase of 5.9%, setting a new historical record for the same period. This has effectively ensured safe, convenient and warm travel for passengers, providing strong support for expanding domestic demand and promoting the development of service consumption.

  In Q1, the railway sector made full use of newly opened routes, stations and newly deployed high-speed trains from 2024, leveraging the advantages of integrated high-speed rail operations to effectively increase passenger capacity. On average, 11,266 passenger trains ran daily across the country, a 7.4% YoY increase. Additionally, the introduction of elder-friendly tourism trains, along with branded services like the "The Panda-themed Train," "Yichun Train," "South of the Great River Train" and "Qilu No. 1 Train," has expanded new tourism consumption scenarios in collaboration with hotels and scenic spots along the routes. A total of 187 tourism trains were operated in the first quarter, a 30% increase, injecting new momentum into the tourism and silver economy sectors.
