First, tightened epidemic prevention and control measures. Under the work requirements of the State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism, the Capital’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism for the Stringent Access Control to Beijing and the ninth edition of China’s Protocol on Prevention and Control of COVID-19, CR restrains the spread of the virus through railways by strengthening the epidemic prevention and control with detailed measures at stations such as body temperature measurement, health code checking, ventilation and disinfection and social distancing, and with measures on board such as setting designated seats for quarantine, promoting non-contact services, and preparing for emergency response. Broadcastings at stations and on board warmly remind passengers of keeping masks on, no gathering, and taking proper personal protection measures, thus making the travel experience safer and more relaxed for passengers.
Second, accurate and flexible capacity allocation. According to the travel demands revealed by the ticket pre-sale and waitlisted booking data on the official booking platform 12306.cn, CR scientifically formulates flexible operation plans for passenger trains by implementing the “unique train working diagram for each day” strategy, to properly match the transport capacity with travel demands. According to the epidemic prevention and control policies of different cities updated based on local pandemic situations, CR adopts flexible strategies for allocating transport capacity on inter-provincial, inter-city and intra-city routes, with a focus on increasing the capacity on routes to/from no-risk areas. CR adopts targeted measures on certain popular routes, such as operating coupled EMU trains and coupling additional coaches to conventional speed trains, and also plans to put the hot standby trainsets into service when needed.
Third, optimized passenger services at stations and on board. The basic services such as cleaning, catering and water supply are strengthened, and the numbers of lanes for security check at station entrances/exits and for ticket checking are adjusted depending on passenger flow, to reduce the waiting time of passengers in queue. Highlighting the services for passengers with special needs, such as the elderly, the children, the sick, the disabled and the pregnant, CR facilitates online services registration and on-site receiving procedures, and provides green channels and courtesy services. High quality releasing of transport service information informs passengers timely, such as the operation of additional trains and suspension of train operation. Additionally, better integrations with municipal transport such as buses, metros and taxis, fulfills the “last kilometer” of travel services.
For information about the operation schedule of passenger trains during the holiday period, please check the website 12306.cn or the 12306 mobile Application. According to the requirements of the State Council’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism, from September 10 to October 31, 2022, passengers are required to present the negative COVID-19 test results within 48 hours for entering railway stations and getting on board. Please be prepared before starting your journey, and implement COVID-19 protection measures at stations and on board as required, then enjoy your safe and hygienic travel experience maintained by all.
