Since this year, the railway sector has actively promoted the construction of railway corridors and strengthened the centralized and unified command of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC) trains. In the first three quarters, 4,183 ILSTC trains were operated with 416,000 TEUs delivered, up 75% and 246% year on year respectively, showing a strong growth trend.

Strengthening transport organization of ILSTC trains. China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. has optimized the ILSTC train operation plan and arranged 9 scheduled train operation routes from the western region to the Beibu Gulf Port, covering the major cities in the southwest region. It has strengthened the centralized and unified command of transport, focused on monitoring the ILSTC train operation to ensure the on-time delivery. It also strengthened the organization of containers source and the transport and arrangement of empty container transport, set container returning points at important logistics terminals along the route, therefore promoting the balance of two-way freight flow. It has actively developed cross-border rail transport between China and Vietnam. In the first three quarters of this year, 852,000 tons of goods were delivered via the China-Vietnam railway international through traffic transport, up 42% year on year.

Improving the quality of logistics services. The railway sector has made good use of the working mechanism of the Coordinating Council on ILSTC Trains Transport. It has worked with relevant domestic shipping carriers, ports, and enterprises to build a transport cooperation platform and improve the logistics organization. It has provided preferential freight rates, actively promoted rail-sea intermodal transport of containers, reduced the container restow costs and the warehouse charges of some railway container central stations. It has optimized the functions of the railway freight 95306 platform, providing services such as "one-stop" processing, cargo tracking, delivery forecast in some CR local groups as pilot implementation, and expanding e-payment channels. It has also constructed inland ports and trackless stations in cooperation with ports, making it easier and faster for customers to deliver cargoes.

Actively promoting the construction of railway corridors. According to the 14th Five-Year Plan and the Implementation Plan for High-quality Construction of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in the 14th Five-Year Plan Period, CHINA RAILWAY has been focusing on strengthening the weak links in infrastructure and accelerating new line construction and existing line upgrading of the west, middle and east corridors. For instance, the construction of Chongqing-Huaihua second line and the electrification of Huaihua-Liuzhou Line were completed in 2020, and both lines were put into operation the same year. The Xuyong-Bijie Line and other projects are also in orderly progress.

CHINA RAILWAY will actively promote the high-quality construction and operation of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, promote the construction of trunk lines, well prepare the construction of Qinzhou East-Qianzhou Port Line, Huangtong-Baise Line, Guizhou-Guangxi Line, etc., and accelerate progress of the under-construction projects. At the same time, it will vigorously develop the cross-border trains, give full play to the role of China-Laos Railway which is expected to open at the end of this year, prepare the operation scheme in advance, formulate rules for international combined transport of freight and traffic organization scheme, in a bid to further improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
