Qixingping Tunnel Breaks Through on Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway

 

  The Qixingping Tunnel on the Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway broke through on July 21. Located in Dazhou, Sichuan province, the tunnel is about 13,600 meters long. The main line of the Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway is 739 kilometers long, with a designed speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After the railway opens for service, the travel time from Chongqing to Xi'an will be shortened from about five hours — the current fastest time to about two hours.
