Recently, breakthrough was achieved at the Xiangyang No 1 Tunnel, a key project on the Xi'an-Chongqing High Speed Railway. The 12,766-meter tunnel is classified as a Grade-I high-risk tunnel and passes through a nearly 1,000-meter section with a high risk of gas hazards.
The Xi'an-Chongqing High-Speed Railway is expected to open in 2028. Once operational, it will reduce travel time between Xi'an and Chongqing from about five hours to around two hours.
