China's Northernmost Electrified Railway Renovation Project Begins

On September 17, renovation work officially began on the Fuyu-Nenjiang-Jagdaqi  Railway (hereinafter referred to as the railway), marking China's northernmost electrified railway renovation project.

The railway renovation is being carried out to fully electrify the line with a maximum design speed of 160 kilometers per hour, making it capable of operating EMU trains. Upon completion, the fastest travel time between Jagdaqi and Harbin will be shortened from the current nine hours and 43 minutes to about six hours and 30 minutes, making "morning departure and midday arrival" possible. The line's annual freight capacity will be increased to 50 million tons, enabling the efficient transport of bulk commodities and abundant local specialty products, benefiting millions of residents along the route.
