Comprehensive Renovation of Chongqing Railway Station Begins

　　

        On May 25, the iconic building of Chongqing Railway Station, located in Caiyuanba, Yuzhong District, Chongqing, was demolished by controlled blasting, officially marking the start of its comprehensive renovation. In 1952, with the opening of the Chengdu-Chongqing Railway, the first railway line in New China, Chongqing Railway Station was put into operation, making it the city's oldest railway hub. After the successive commissioning of Chongqingbei Railway Station and Chongqingxi Railway Station, the old Chongqing Railway Station gradually became quiet and ceased operations in June 2022. The renovated and upgraded Chongqing Railway Station will play an important role in supporting Chongqing's development as a national central city and the creation of an international transportation hub.
