Beijing, March 6 (reported by special correspondents Yang Jing and Jin Xuanmei) - On March 5, the Chongqing delegation of the 14th National People's Congress held an open group meeting during the second session of the NPC, reviewing the government work report and answering questions from domestic and foreign journalists. This marked the first open group activity of this year's Two Sessions. During the meeting, the "Construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor" was frequently mentioned by several deputies.

This year, the Chongqing delegation has prepared three proposals, one of which focuses on enhancing the comprehensive service capabilities of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor. As the logistics and operational organization center of the Corridor, Chongqing has established a cross-regional comprehensive operation platform in collaboration with regions along the route. Covering 11 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities, this platform aims to build the nation's first integrated national logistics hub, combining port, land port, airport, production service, and trade service functions. It will significantly improve outbound and inbound capabilities, enhance logistics hub functions, and further promote corridor economic development, thereby demonstrating the functional effects of the corridor.

With the completion and opening of the second line of the Chongqing-Huaihua Railway and the accelerated construction of projects such as the Chongqing-Changsha High Speed Railway and the Huangtong-Baise Railway, the infrastructure of the corridor continues to improve with increasing operational efficiency. This momentum has driven the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor to maintain a strong growth trend. In 2023, the corridor sent 860,000 TEUs of cargo, a year-on-year increase of 14%. The coverage extended to 144 railway stations in 70 cities across 18 provinces in China, with goods reaching 473 ports in 120 countries and regions worldwide. The range of transported goods expanded to nearly a thousand categories, including automotive parts and decorative materials, providing strong support for promoting economic and social development in the western region, serving higher-standard opening up, and facilitating dual circulation between domestic and international markets. In particular, the Chongqing region saw the operation of 3,221 intermodal trains for the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a year-on-year increase of 26%, transporting 161,000 TEUs of goods worth over 20 billion yuan.

"To promote the high-level construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, Chongqing will focus on 'corridor + trade + industry' and comprehensively promote the iterative upgrading and quality improvement of corridor facilities, logistics efficiency, corridor economy, and cooperation mechanisms, while striving to achieve 'five breakthroughs' in corridor transportation, corridor economy, corridor trade, corridor services, and digital corridor construction," said Chen Mingbo, a deputy of the NPC, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee, and Executive Deputy Mayor of the Chongqing Municipal Government.
