Construction of Jinhua-Ningbo Railway Begins

  The construction of the Jinhua-Ningbo railway has started recently.

  Jinhua-Ningbo Railway is a convenient corridor from Ningbo to the Jinhua-Yiwu metropolitan area. The railway includes the Yiwu Station of Shanghai-Kunming Railway to Yunlong Station of Ningbo-Taizhou-Wenzhou Railway, including the supporting projects in Jinhua and Ningbo terminal. The down traffic main line of Jinhua-Ningbo Railway runs from Yunlong Station to Yiwu Station (excluded), and the newly-built line is 188.3km long. The up traffic main line runs from Yunlong Station to Hetian Block Post of Shanghai-Kunming Railway, and the newly-built line is 185.6km long. There are 9 stations on the whole line, namely, Yunlong Station, Fenghua Station, Xikou Station, Xinchang Station, Shengzhou Station, Nanshan Lake Station, Hulu Station, Dongyang Station and Suxi Station.

  Jinhua-Ningbo Railway is designed with a speed of 160km/h, with the conditions for a speed of 200km/h reserved for future development. The construction clearance meets the operation requirements for double-deck container trains. The construction period is planned to be 4 years.

  Officials in Zhejiang Province said that the construction of Jinhua-Ningbo Railway is important for improving the layout of the regional railway network. The line connects Yiwu and Ningbo, which is of great significance to realize the interconnection between the world's small commodity city (Yiwu) and the world's largest port (Zhoushan Port in Ningbo), improve the status of Ningbo as a comprehensive transportation hub, and boost the economic and social development along the line.
