Guangzhou Railway Station, originally built in 1911 as Dashatou Railway Station, has a history of more than a century and was once an important railway hub and first-class passenger station in South China. Starting January 26, 2026, the station no longer handles originating or terminating normal-speed trains, which were all relocated to Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station. This marks Guangzhou Railway Station’s official transformation into a high-speed railway hub.
During this year’s Spring Festival travel rush, Guangzhou Railway Station further increased its transport capacity. Before the Spring Festival (including temporary passenger trains), a total of 196 originating or terminating EMU trains operated, an increase of 74 trains year-on-year. After the timetable adjustment, Guangzhou Railway Station is fully connected to multiple high-speed railway lines including Beijing-Guangzhou Railway, Meizhou-Longchuan High Speed Railway, Guiyang-Guangzhou High Speed Railway and Guangzhou-Shanwei High Speed Railway, extending its train coverage to North China, Southwest China and beyond.
