During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Tianjin city achieved leapfrog development in the construction of its high-speed and intercity railway network. The Beijing-Tangshan Intercity Railway, the northern section of the Beijing-Binhai Intercity Railway and the Tianjin-Daxing Airport Intercity Railway were successively completed and put into operation, forming a pattern of “four high-speed railways connecting Tianjin with Beijing.” As a result, a 30-minute commuting circle within the Beijing-Tianjin-Xiong’an core area and a 1 to 1.5-hour transport circle among major cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region have moved from blueprint to reality, with “rail-based Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei” taking initial shape. The total length of high-speed railway lines in operation within Tianjin has reached 410 kilometers, an increase of 100 kilometers compared with the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period, representing a 32% growth. Looking ahead to the 15th Five-Year Plan period, construction of the Tianjin-Weifang High Speed Railway and the southern section of the Beijing-Binhai Intercity Railway will be accelerated, providing important transport support for the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
