Seventh Anniversary of the Hong Kong Section of

Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway

On September 23, the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High Speed Railway celebrated its 7th anniversary. Over the past seven years, the section has carried a total of 101 million cross-boundary passengers, injecting strong momentum into connectivity and cultural and tourism integration in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Data shows that the number of destinations directly accessible from Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station has grown from over 40 at the beginning of operation to 96 today, gradually forming an efficient and convenient cross-regional passenger transport network.

From Hong Kong West Kowloon Railway Station, passengers can quickly reach Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other core cities in the Greater Bay Area, with commuting among the three places becoming increasingly frequent. Extending northwards, the high-speed line connects to international metropolises such as Beijing and Shanghai, while westward it has gradually included key southwestern cities such as Chengdu and Chongqing. Statistics indicate that the daily average number of cross-boundary passengers carried by the Hong Kong section increased from fewer than 40,000 in its early stage to nearly 100,000 by 2025.
