Boarding a Plateau Train for Experiential Learning

As summer arrives, the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau enters its peak tourism season. At around 19:00 on July 10, at Xining Railway Station, the largest passenger station on the plateau, train attendants dressed in red "Heavenly Road Gesang Flower" uniforms lined up at the door of train Y961 bound for Dachaidan to welcome passengers. Over 140 students and teachers from nine Hong Kong schools boarded the experiential learning train in an orderly manner.

With the theme "Mountains and Seas as Witness ? Youth Without Borders," this is the first chartered educational train service launched by CR-Qingzang for Hong Kong students, and the first such service headed towards Haixi Prefecture in Qinghai.

Located in the northern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is known for its rich and unique geological features. It offers diverse natural landscapes including mountains, grasslands, deserts, rivers and lakes, and is home to scenic sites such as Chaka Salt Lake, Emerald Lake and Mount Kunlun, making it a prime destination for research, study and tourism.

In recent years, to stimulate consumption and support regional economic development, railway authorities have proactively collaborated with local governments to launch special trains like silver-tourist trains and student learning trains tailored to various traveler needs. Traveling by train for educational experiences has become a growing trend. This is the fifth educational train launched by CR-Qingzang in 2025.
