During the festival, there was a strong demand for travel related to home visits, tomb sweeping, outings, and tourism. Hotspot tourist destinations such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Wuhan, as well as popular short-distance routes like Beijing to Tianjin, Guangzhou to Shenzhen, Shanghai to Suzhou, Shanghai to Hangzhou, and Chongqing to Chengdu, experienced relatively concentrated passenger flows for short-to-medium distance travels. In response, railway authorities increased passenger transportation capacity and implemented peak-hour operation schedules. On average, 11,619 passenger trains were operated daily, up by 2,744 trains compared to the Qingming Festival in 2019, with an additional 1,350 temporary trains operated daily.
