To continuously expand economic and trade exchanges, promote cultural exchanges, and enhance higher-standard opening up, as well as to meet the travel needs of cross-border passengers, the D87/88 international passenger train from Kunmingnan Railway Station to Vientiane Railway Station will add two new stops starting from March 10, bringing the total number of stops along the route to 10. At the same time, railway authorities are actively coordinating with authorities like customs and border inspection to reduce clearance times, maintaining a one-way travel time of 9 hours and 26 minutes.

The newly added stops are Yuxi Railway Station in the Chinese section and Muang Xay Railway Station in the Laos section. Passengers from Yuxi City in Yunnan, China, and Muang Xay County in Oudomxay, Laos, can conveniently board the China-Laos Railway international passenger train at these two stations respectively, thus conveniently initiating cross-border travel.

The D87/88 international passenger train operates in a "depart in the morning, arrive in the evening" mode, with one train running in each direction daily. It is operated using the power-concentrated Fuxing EMU trains and Lancang EMU trains, with a maximum operating speed of 160 kilometers per hour. The train stops at 8 stations, including Kunmingnan Railway Station, Pu'er Railway Station, Xishuangbanna Railway Station, Mohan Railway Station, Moding Railway Station, Luang Prabang Railway Station, Vang Vieng Railway Station, and Vientiane Railway Station. With the addition of Yuxi Railway Station and Muang Xay Railway Station, the total number of stations along the route increases to 10, making passenger travel more convenient.

It is reported that since last winter, the climate in places along the railway, such as Xishuangbanna and Pu'er in Yunnan, as well as Vientiane and Luang Prabang in Laos, has been warm and pleasant, attracting both Chinese and foreign tourists. Especially during this year's Spring Festival travel rush, tourism along the China-Laos Railway has been booming, with over 25,000 people choosing to travel cross-border on the international passenger trains, and the total number of passengers sent along the entire route exceeding 3 million, a year-on-year increase of 39%.
