In the first three quarters of this year, China State Railway Group Co., Ltd. earnestly implemented the central government's decision and deployment, adhered to the new development concept, implemented the high-quality development requirements, and further promoted the structural reform on the supply side of railway transportation. The operation of passenger and freight transportation sustained steady growth and laid a solid foundation for completing the tasks of the whole year.

Since this year, passenger traffic has continued to grow rapidly. In the first three quarters, 2.807 billion passengers were transported across the country, up 240 million or 9.4% year-on-year. Passenger turnover reached 1158.9 billion person-kilometers, up 50.1 billion or 4.5% year-on-year. The passenger volume transported by national railways totaled 2.742 billion, up 217 million or 8.6% year-on-year.

By implementing the "one diagram per quarter", the railway sector dynamically optimized the passenger train operation structure and continuously optimized the supply of passenger transport products. It organized the opening and operation of Leshan-Yibin section of Chengdu-Guiyang Railway and Beijing West-Daxing Airport section of Beijing-Xiong'an Intercity Railway, and increased train speeds on Nanning-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Nanning-Kunming Railway and Hami-Urumqi section of Lanzhou-Xinjiang High-speed Railway. It put into operation 264 new Fuxing EMUs, of which 84 power-concentrated EMUs reached a speed of 160 kilometers per hour, which promoted the improvement of both product supply capacity and quality. From January to September, 8,538 passenger trains were operated on the railway network across China on a daily basis, with an increase of 967 trains year-on-year, of which EMUs accounted for 71.6%. With the proportion of Fuxing trains reaching 12% in all EMU trains operated, the role of high-speed rail as the main railway transport force is increasingly prominent, and the influence of the Fuxing brand is constantly expanding.

Adhering to market-orientation, the railway sector implemented the "one diagram per day" for high-speed railways, and implemented the floated discount of ticket rates for regional trains on 42 railway lines, achieving rapid growth of high-speed railway passenger flow. In the first three quarters, 1.734 billion passengers were transported by EMU trains, up 15.3% year-on-year, accounting for 63.2% of the total railway passenger traffic, up 3.7% year on year.
