On August 17, a batch of containers carrying garments, small household appliances and other export goods from Guangzhou, Guangdong province, arrived by freight train at Luchaogang Railway Container Terminal in Shanghai. The containers were then transferred by road to a terminal in Shanghai's Waigaoqiao port area for direct loading onto vessels for overseas shipment. This marked the first shipment handled by Shanghai Customs under its new customs supervision model for sea-rail transshipment multimodal transport. Exporters only need to submit one multimodal transport application to customs at the place of departure, enabling the goods to be released upon departure.
