Thai Monthong Durians Reach Qingpu in Just 3 Days

On the morning of April 16, leveraging the Lancang-Mekong Express of the China-Laos Railway and cross-border cold chain intermodal transport, a large batch of Thai Monthong durians crossed mountains and seas and arrived directly at the Shanghai Xijiao International Agricultural Products Trading Center in Qingpu District. This "prickly gold" achieved a transit time of just 3-4 days, more than a week faster than traditional sea freight, enabling Shanghai residents' fruit baskets to connect faster with Southeast Asia's freshness.

To ensure supply during the peak season, railway authorities have increased the frequency of cold chain trains from 2 to 6 per day and use refrigerated containers with precise temperature control within plus or minus 0.5 degrees Celsius, ensuring an uninterrupted cold chain throughout the journey. Tropical fruits transported via the China-Laos Railway are expected to exceed 200,000 tons in 2026.
