A freight train loaded with 450 tons of steel coils recently departed from Zhangzhoubei Railway Freight Yard in Fujian and headed directly to Luoqi in Chongqing, marking the official opening of Fujian's first direct rail channel for steel coils. This channel fills the gap in direct rail transport of steel coils within the province and bridges the "last mile" between the southeast coast and inland industrial collaboration.
With the new channel, the entire transport cycle of steel coils for Zhangzhou Sanbao Steel Group has been shortened from 28 days to 5 days, the number of transshipments has been reduced from three to one, and the cost per shipment is expected to drop by 30%, significantly enhancing timeliness. Railway authorities stated that this inaugural service will serve as a model for continuously optimizing the regional railway logistics network, injecting new momentum into Fujian's steel enterprises' efforts to expand into inland markets and serve the domestic circulation.
