China-Laos Railway Freight Volume Exceeds 70 Million Tons
On October 28, a "Yunnan-Vientiane Express" international freight train departed from Kunming, Yunnan province, bound for Vientiane, Laos—a trip taking only 26 hours. As of that day, the China-Laos Railway had operated 63,000 freight trains and transported more than 70 million tons of cargo, including 16 million tons of cross-border goods, serving multiple countries and regions. Since the beginning of this year, freight volume has reached 19.88 million tons, up 25 percent year on year, while cross-border freight rose 12.7 percent to 4.47 million tons. The China-Laos Railway has become a golden transport corridor promoting regional economic growth.
