At 11:00 on March 25, an open-top container train carrying 3,000 tons of lithium spodumene imported from South Africa departed from Fangchenggang Railway Station in Guangxi to Anlong Railway Station in Guizhou. It is reported that this batch of lithium spodumene traveled from the port of Durban, South Africa to Fangchenggang by sea, and then was transferred to Guizhou's Anlong by railway, marking the first "Fangchenggang-Anlong" lithium spodumene sea-rail intermodal train launched from Fangchenggang Railway Station.

Lithium spodumene is one of the key raw materials for producing lithium batteries for new energy vehicles. In recent years, the demand for lithium spodumene in China has grown rapidly, as a result of the rapid development of industries such as new energy vehicles, energy storage, 5G technology, and 3C digital. Previously, Chengxin Lithium Group Co., Ltd., which mainly produces lithium battery products, transported raw lithium spodumene stones to Guizhou H-Gold Mining Industry Ltd in Fangchenggang by automobile for processing. After the material forms lithium concentrate, it is then provided to the Sichuan base for producing lithium carbonate.

Chengxin Lithium Group Co., Ltd. requires 25,000 tons of lithium spodumene per month, so the small batch transportation mode by automobile can no longer meet production needs. After freight marketing personnel from Fangchenggang Railway Station visited the company and learned about its transportation situation, they actively promoted the preferential policies of railways in reducing social logistics costs, guided the enterprise to choose all-weather and large-capacity railway transportation, and provided tailored transportation solutions, actively promoting the shift of good transportation from road to rail.
