Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway Launches Container Transport Service

On March 28, a train carrying 21 containers loaded with 1470 tons of coal ash from Qingtongxia Railway Freight Yard arrived at Nyingchi Station Freight Yard. This is the first container train operated since Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway opened to traffic, marking the official launch of the container transport service on the railway.
Compared with road transport, container trains are more environmentally friendly in terms of transporting coal ash and can cut down the transport energy consumption by 3%. The launch of the container transport service on the Lhasa-Nyingchi Railway, in line with China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and the new trend of green freight, will play a significant role in protecting the natural environment in Nyingchi, optimizing the local transport structure, attracting more freight customers along the route, and achieving high-quality freight development.
Lhasa Station attached great importance to the task of performing container transport service for the first time, It provided its backbone staff to work at Nyingchi Station Freight Yard for "one-on-one" operation guidance to freight workers and container operators, and optimized the cooperation procedure between the teams of gantry crane and loading/unloading to adapt to the actual situation of yards, thus further enhancing the working safety.
Taking this container train service as a benchmark, Lhasa Station will strengthen services promoted by policies and driven by innovations, move faster to upgrade the brand, leverage the advantages of green and low-carbon railway transport, to contribute more to the local economic and social development.
