In February, while ensuring the transport services during Spring Festival Railway Transport Season and the 2022 Winter Olympics in a well-coordinated way, the railway sector has adhered to the strategy of "Making up Passenger Transport Deficiency with Freight Transport", and deepened the freight increase actions, which provides strong support for transport of key supplies and stable development of national economy.
Making full use of the increased transport capacity of the railway network, the railway sector has made overall arrangement of passenger and freight transport capacities and vigorously organized car loading. In February, the national railways delivered 291.78 million tons of goods, with a year-on-year increase of 3.09 million tons; the national railways realized a daily loading of 171,000 cars, with a year-on-year increase of 2,150 cars; 11 CR regional groups reached year-on-year growth on the freight delivery.
Focusing on the goal of freight increase, CR regional groups have actively responded to the impact of periodic fluctuations of freight traffic sources on car loading. According to the requirements of centralized and unified transport command of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., empty gondola cars have been transported to CR-Taiyuan, Hohhot, Xi'an and Urumqi groups on the main trunk railways such as Watang-Rizhao Railway, Haolebaoji-Ji’an Railway, Lanzhou-Lianyungang Railway and Lanzhou-Urumchi HSR, thus effectively ensuring the transport demand in key areas. During the Spring Festival period, CHINA RAILWAY implemented a differentiated appraisal on loading and incorporated coal transport for the coal-fired power plants into assessment, effectively mobilizing the enthusiasm of loading organization. During the differentiated appraisal period, national railways achieved a daily loading exceeding 170,000 cars.
The railway sector has taken the initiative to meet transport demands, paid close attention to the supply, consumption and storage of thermal coal in major power plants, scientifically formulated the traffic program and made proper reserve of coal resources. In order to ensure the demand of the 2022 Winter Olympics, the railway sector has strengthened the targeted supply in key areas and helped to improve the inventory level of 23 power plants in Northern Hebei. CR regional groups have strengthened the unloading organization of thermal coal and strengthened the anti-freezing treatment against rainy, snowy and freezing weather conditions, in order to prevent any effect on unloading due to "frozen cars".
Giving full play to the backbone role of transport, the railway sector has strengthened the transport organization of key supplies such as epidemic prevention supplies, foods, agricultural and sideline products. In view of the spring ploughing, CR regional groups have strengthened the transport organization of spring ploughing supplies such as seeds, fertilizers and pesticides, optimized the transport capacity allocation, and opened up green channels to timely facilitate spring ploughing.
