On the morning of October 21st, the opening ceremony of the exhibition was held in Hall-5, and Li Guoyong, the Vice-President of China Association of Metros, presided and announced the opening of the exhibition. Participants included leaders of relevant ministries, commissions, departments and bureaus such as the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State Administration for Market Regulation, together with members of the Association, including Executive Vice-President Zhou Xiaoqin, Vice-President Xie Zhengguang and Vice-President and Secretary-General Song Minhua.
CARS is the only comprehensive research institute with multi-disciplines and multi-specialties in Chinese railway industry. In recent years, it has actively participated in the construction of new infrastructure development in line with the deployment of major national strategies such as the coordinated enhancement of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the expansion of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, the development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the strengthening of nation’s transportation system, in facing the arising opportunity of the "Four-network Integration" development of rail transit, fully supporting and leading the scientific and technological innovation of intelligent high speed railways represented by the Intelligent Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR and Intelligent Beijing-Xiong'an Intercity Railway, and fully participating in the top-level design and demonstration projects of intelligent intercity railways and smart urban railways, contributing to the quality development of rail transit and strengthening of the nation’s transportation system.
Equipped with an interactive touch screen, the exhibition displayed CARS' smart urban rail system that is made up of "one smart urban rail cloud, three smart sessions, ten innovative fields, and multiple smart applications", focusing on intelligent construction, intelligent train, intelligent train control, environmental protection, intelligent operation & maintenance, and intelligent inspection & monitoring, describing a blueprint of "building a new generation of China’s smart urban rail, with focus on safety, convenience, efficiency, green, and economy". The team consisting of experienced technicians from relevant departments of CARS was on-site to interact with the visitors, creating a lively atmosphere among the endless stream of visitors. The "fully autonomous driving" simulator attracted a lot of visitors, hoping to experience the feeling of being an HSR train driver. The driver's console on the simulator is a model built with the same-size ratio as the real one, equipped with all kinds of instrumental panels, control keys, and operating handles. In front of the driver's console was an LCD screen on which the scenery along the Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR was reproduced through simulation. Sitting in the driver's seat, the visitors could, by simply pressing the start-up button, drive the “350km/h high speed train” along the beautiful Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR.
The models of the latest urban rail testing and inspection train and the latest urban rail comprehensive inspection train of CARS also made their debut in the exhibition. The successful research and development of the two inspection trains provided reliable technical support and a guarantee for the operation safety of urban rails. A promotional video CARS and a short video of CCTV News Channel introducing the Intelligent Beijing-Zhangjiakou HSR were played in turn on the ice screen hanging above the exhibition area, attracting a lot of visitors. The exhibition was a complete success.
