The railway authorities have adhered to high standards, sustainability, and people-oriented principles, striving to make the China-Laos Railway a path of development, happiness, and friendship for the people of both countries. This initiative promotes smooth trade, cultural exchanges, and mutual understanding along the route, injecting strong momentum into regional economic prosperity and development.

Since the launch of the China-Laos Railway international passenger train on April 13, 2023, its economic, convenient, and comfortable features have attracted travelers from over 80 countries and regions to cross-border train travel. This year, responding to the booming tourism in cities along the China-Laos Railway, such as Xishuangbanna and Luang Prabang, the railway authorities, in collaboration with border inspection and customs authorities, have optimized inspection and clearance procedures, promptly increased the seating capacity of international passenger trains, and added new stops at Yuxi in China and Muang Xay in Laos. They also introduced a pair of international passenger trains between Xishuangbanna in China and Luang Prabang in Laos, making travel more convenient for passengers. As of May 21, 94,000 passengers have undertaken cross-border travel on the China-Laos Railway international passenger trains this year.
