The "Lancang-Mekong Express" international freight train on the China-Laos Railway was launched on January 10, 2022. The entire train consists of dedicated railway freight cars with a speed of 120 kilometers per hour. It is characterized by short customs clearance times, high operating speeds, controllable arrival times, and high-quality online and offline services. As a fixed-loop railway freight transportation product between Kunming, China, and Vientiane, Laos, the journey takes only 26 hours, providing a convenient and efficient logistics channel for international trade.
With the implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the freight volume of the China-Laos Railway has steadily increased. The railway authority has innovatively introduced various "Lancang-Mekong Express" branded freight train services such as the "Thailand-Laos-Chengdu-Europe Express" and "Shanghai-Yunnan-Vientiane" lines. These not only improve cross-border logistics efficiency but also further expand trade channels between Southeast Asia and Europe, opening up broader opportunities for international economic and trade cooperation.
