As of February 19 this year, the China-Laos Railway has accumulated over 28.897 million passenger trips and more than 33.059 million tons of goods, including 7.509 million tons of cross-border goods, since its opening. The variety of goods transported has expanded from about 10 types at the initial stages of operation, including fertilizers and daily goods, to over 2,900 types, such as electronics, photovoltaic products, and cold chain fruits. The continuous effect of the Golden Passage has greatly facilitated the efficient exchange of people, goods, and information along the route, injecting new vitality into regional prosperity and development.

During the Spring Festival holiday, the Mohan railway port in Yunnan witnessed a continuous flow of passengers. Taking the international passenger trains on the China-Laos Railway to Laos has become a preferred option for many people to travel across borders during holidays, opening up an exotic experience. Since 2023, CR-Kunming has delved into analyzing the cross-border tourism market and passenger demands. Leveraging the transportation advantages of the China-Laos Railway, they have carefully planned Laos cross-border tourism products such as the “Dreamy Wonderland ? Panorama of the Mekong” 12-day tour and the “Traveling to Laos by Train” 7-day tour. They have collaborated with domestic travel agencies to serve passengers traveling to Laos by high-speed train.

Since the beginning of this year, the freight transport volume of the China-Laos Railway has shown a growth trend. Fruits from Thailand and Laos and other goods have been continuously transported through the China-Laos Railway to Kunming and then sold to Sichuan, Guangdong, and other places. Domestic vegetables, pomegranates, photovoltaic products, small household appliances, and other goods have been transported to Southeast Asian countries. As of now, the China-Laos Railway has transported a total of 2.517 million tons of goods this year, including 0.715 million tons of cross-border goods, an increase of 0.143 million tons compared to the same period last year.
