Nanning, March 12 (reported by Li Gangxing, Tan Yuanyuan, and Chen Xingyu) - Recently, the X9101 China-Vietnam cross-border freight train departed from Nanningnan Railway Station, carrying machinery, chemicals, and other goods to Yên Viên Railway Station in Vietnam. In the first two months of 2024, a total of 25 cross-border freight trains between China and Vietnam were operated, transporting 600 TEUs of goods, marking a respective increase of 56% and 35% year-on-year, demonstrating the continued momentum in cross-border freight transportation between China and Vietnam.

Currently, China-Vietnam cross-border freight transportation covers over 620 categories of goods, including Chinese medicinal materials, fruits, and machinery equipment. Collection points span over 20 cities within and outside Guangxi Province, and goods are transported to countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand. In the first two months of this year, the total volume of throughput goods through the Pingxiang railway port reached 32,000 tons. Notably, there was a significant increase in the throughput of chemical products and fiberboard, up by 51% and 1294% respectively year on year.

According to staff at the Nanning Railway Logistics Center, since the beginning of this year, railway authorities have implemented measures such as extending the free storage period for cross-border self-owned containers and seeking government policy support, allowing customers to enjoy transportation services such as green channels and free storage, reducing the logistics costs of cross-border railway freight transportation between China and Vietnam. This has enhanced the market attractiveness of cross-border freight trains between China and Vietnam, serving and guaranteeing economic and trade exchanges between China and ASEAN countries.

To meet transportation demands, CR-Nanning continues to optimize transportation organization, precise scheduling, selection of high-quality container sources and train sources, and scientific loading and dispatching, ensuring efficient operation of cross-border logistics services characterized by convenience, speed, safety, stability, and green economy for cross-border freight trains between the two nations. Currently, the transportation time of cross-border freight trains between Nanningnan Railway Station and Yên Viên Railway Station is stable within 16.5 hours, with the fastest time being 14.5 hours, representing a 65% improvement in overall transportation efficiency compared to the past.

To better serve economic and trade exchanges between China and ASEAN countries, CR-Nanning will move faster to construct a modern railway logistics system, promote the transformation of cross-border freight trains between China and Vietnam from mainline transportation to full-service logistics, vigorously develop cross-border transportation logistics package services, continuously optimize cargo handling processes, and improve the quality of train operation.
