At 12:10 on March 19, No. 45001 freight train loaded with 37 tons of automobile accessories slowly departed from the Qisumu International Railway Logistics Park in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia. It will leave the country via Mohan Port of China-Laos Railway after running southward for more than 3,600 kilometers, and will arrive at Vientiane, the capital of Laos, in 10 days. The operation of this international freight train marks the official launching of the international cross-border transport service of China-Laos Railway in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The opening of the international cross-border transport service of China-Laos Railway in Inner Mongolia not only creates a rapid international trade channel between Inner Mongolia and Southeast Asian countries, but also plays a positive role in promoting the high-quality construction of the New Western Land-Sea Corridor and boosting the transport of Inner Mongolian products to the countries along the "Belt and Road".
In order to handle the international cross-border transport service of China-Laos Railway, China Railway Hohhot Group Co., Ltd. has made careful deployment and preparation, strictly implemented various epidemic prevention and control measures, formulated train operation plans in advance, actively coordinated and closely cooperated with the customs services, jointly opened up the green channel, and taken the priority measures on loading and unloading, allocation of vehicles and delivery, strongly guaranteeing the smooth operation of international freight trains on Laos-China Railway under its administration.
According to the sources, with the opening of China-Laos Railway, the transport time of goods between Inner Mongolia and Laos by railway is reduced by about half compared to the previous road transport. "The customs declaration service within the logistics park can further improve transport efficiency." According to the official of the Production and Transport Department of Asia-Europe Logistics, with the advantages of low transport cost and large transport volume, railway transport can reduce transport cost for consignors, bringing real benefits to many logistics enterprises.
