Panzhou-Xingyi High Speed Railway Opens to Traffic

At 9:38 on November 28, train G5356 departed Xingyinan Railway Station and arrived at Guiyangbei Railway Station in less than two hours, marking the official opening of the Panzhou-Xingyi High Speed Railway in Guizhou province.

The Panzhou-Xingyi High Speed Railway is approximately 99 kilometers long, with a design speed of 250 kilometers per hour and three stations: Panzhou, Baotian and Xingyinan. The line traverses Guizhou’s mountainous terrain—known as a “geological museum”—with a bridge-to-tunnel ratio of nearly 91%, the highest among Guizhou’s high-speed railway projects.

After nearly four years of construction, builders overcame world-class engineering challenges including karst formations, high gas levels and fractured fault zones. Several key control projects—such as the Tuole Tunnel, Baotian Tunnel and Haizihe No.1 swivel bridge—were successfully completed, achieving a balance of safety, quality, environmental protection and progress.

With the opening of the Panzhou-Xingyi High Speed Railway, high-quality tourism resources such as Wanfenglin and Maling River Canyon are now better connected, promoting deep integration of “transport + tourism,” advancing the “fast travel and slow sightseeing” service model, and injecting strong momentum into rural revitalization and regional coordinated development.

In recent years, Guizhou has accelerated railway development and further integrated into the national “eight vertical and eight horizontal” high-speed railway network. With the opening of the Panzhou-Xingyi High Speed Railway, Guizhou’s total high-speed railway operating mileage has reached 1,906 kilometers. A “high-speed railway travel circle” centered on Guiyang—providing 30-minute to two-hour access to the administrative centers (core cities) of all eight prefecture-level cities in the province—has now taken shape, further reinforcing Guizhou’s position and advantages as a key land-transport hub in southwest China.
