Urumqi, the city closest to the "geographical center of Asia," has become a frontier for China's westward development and a crucial node on the Silk Road Economic Belt. Just 20 kilometers away lies Urumqi International Land Port, one of China's national logistics hubs. According to Xinjiang International Land Port (Group) Co., Ltd., the "Tianshan" freight train service now operates two to three trains daily, with capacity peaking at five trains. Since its debut in December 2023, over 1,100 trains have been dispatched, with the share of Xinjiang-origin products steadily increasing.
Boosting freight capacity has been made possible by reform, innovation and digital empowerment. At the smart operations command center of the land port, staff can predict precise train arrival and departure times through algorithms, ensuring seamless train dispatch.
