On March 17, a train carrying goods such as steel plates and newsprint returned by the CRE Train (Wuhan) departed from the Wujiashan Railway Container Center Station in Wuhan, and headed to Yangluo Port via Xianglushan Railway Station. These goods were then distributed to Jiangsu's Taicang, Shanghai's Yangshan, and other areas via the Yangtze River waterway. This marks the opening of a new rail-sea intermodal transportation route for the distribution of return cargo for the CRE Train (Wuhan).

European steel plates, as an important source of return cargo for the CRE Train (Wuhan), are favored by enterprises in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the Yangtze River Delta region. Previously, after arriving at Wujiashan Railway Station, these steel plates had to be transported by truck to Yangluo Port for consolidation, and then shipped to cities in the Yangtze River Delta region such as Jiangsu and Shanghai via the Yangtze River waterway.

To reduce logistics costs across society, the Wuhan Railway Logistics Center has comprehensively promoted the transformation and development of logistics, actively exploring new paths for multimodal transportation. Leveraging the operational experience of "national transportation" and "direct transportation within the jurisdiction" of the CRE Train, and taking advantage of the location advantages of Xianglushan Railway Station adjacent to Yangluo Port in Wuhan, namely the shared yard of the port and the station and direct access of national railways, they actively promoted "road to rail" transportation and jointly formulated the "Europe-Wuhan-Shanghai" intermodal transportation plan. After arriving at Wujiashan Railway Station by the CRE Train (Wuhan), European steel plates can be seamlessly connected to Yangluo Port via railway, and then distributed to various places through the inland waterway. Compared with the previous transportation by truck from Wujiashan Center Station to Yangluo Port, the logistics costs for customers are reduced by about 15%.
