In May, CRE trains were operated in a total of 1,033 trips, up 43% year-on-year, breaking through 1,000 trips for the first time, delivering 93,000 TEUs of cargoes, up 48% year-on-year. With monthly trips and transported TEUs both reaching a record high, CRE trains have provided strong support for the global fight against the epidemic, the stable and unobstructed flow of international supply chain and the steady development of China's foreign trade industry.
An official of the freight transport department of CHINA RAILWAY said that the railway sector has thoroughly implemented the central government's deployment requirements of "ensuring stability in employment, financial operations, foreign trade, foreign investment, domestic investment and expectations" and "ensuring security in job, basic living needs, operations of market entities, food and energy security, stable industrial and supply chains, and the normal functioning of primary-level governments", strengthened the transport organization of the CRE trains, optimized the operation plan of the CRE trains, improved the international freight capacity, fully undertaken the goods shifted from sea and air transportation, provided accurate services for enterprises, and actively stabilized the international supply chain. It has worked with the railway authorities of Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Poland, Russia, etc., to establish the regular video conference mechanism during the epidemic, jointly improving the whole-journey transportation efficiency, reducing the whole-journey logistics cost and helping market entities resume work and production. In May, CRE trains have made a new record on the basis of the sharp year-on-year increase in April (operated in 979 trips with 88,000 TEUs of cargoes transported). CRE trains were operated in 1,033 trips and transported 93,000 TEUs of cargoes in May, up 43% and 48% respectively year-on-year, with an overall loaded container rate of 98.3%. Among these trips, 556 (50,000 TEUs) are departure trips, up 47% and 52% respectively, with a loaded container rate of 99.9%, 477 (43,000 TEUs) are return trips, up 39% and 44% respectively, with a loaded container rate of 96.4%.
The official said that CHINA RAILWAY has brought international cooperative anti-epidemic supplies under transport support, and has given them priority in consignment, loading and coupling for transportation to ensure that all supplies can be transported. In May, CRE trains transported 1.196 million pieces (9,381 tons) of anti-epidemic supplies such as masks, first aid kits, protective clothing, forehead temperature guns, goggles, etc. The CRE trains have transported a total of 1.86 million pieces (12,524 tons) of anti-epidemic supplies, mainly to Belarus, Belgium, Poland, Germany, Russia, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Spain, Hungary, Italy, France and other countries, from which these supplies will be distributed to more European countries to effectively help the epidemic prevention and control there. The strong growth in CRE trains has contributed China's strength to the international fight against the epidemic and built a "road of life" between Europe and Asia.
