On August 28, all the entrance and exit gates on the 56 km Jinshan Railway, the first urban railway in the Yangtze River Delta, has accepted the "payment QR code for riding", allowing four different types of payment QR codes. Passengers can simply use the "payment QR code for riding" mini-program in Alipay or WeChat for riding, without bothering to purchase tickets and ask for change afterwards.
As the first urban railway in Yangtze River Delta, Jinshan Railway connects Xuhui, Minhang, Songjiang, Jinshan districts in Shanghai with nine stations. After putting into operation at the end of September 2012, the 80 EMU trains were operated on the railway every day, transporting more than 60 million passengers in total within eight years.
In order to make public transportation more convenient, China Railway Shanghai Group Co., Ltd., took the initiative to communicate and cooperate with relevant companies in Shanghai in upgrading the entrance and exit gates of Jinshan Railway. The upgraded gates are able to support "payment code for riding" of Shanghai Public Transportation Card APP, UnionPay, WeChat payment, and Alipay. Besides, a large scale of equipment tests have also been carried out to ensure the safety and stability of the upgraded services.
