On September 15th, the last day of the Mid-Autumn Festival vacation, major stations across China ushered in the peak of return passenger flow. National railways transported 13.4 million passengers on the day, 1.08 million more compared with that of last year, with a year-on-year growth of 8.8%, hitting a new high for the single-day ridership in the Mid-Autumn vacation. In order to meet passengers' travel demand for returning trips, a total of 7,102 EMU trains were operated on that day. This is also the first time that the number of EMU trains in operation on a single day has exceeded 7,000, setting a new record.
