Train Ridership in Mid-Autumn Festival Vacation Registers New High

  The railway transport during the 2019 Mid-Autumn Festival public vacation, a major, traditional Chinese festival vacation, wrapped up. From September 12th to 15th, the total ridership of national railways hit 48.01 million, 5.61 million more than that of last year, a year-on-year growth of 13.2%. The average daily ridership reached 12.003 million. A series of key indicators hit a record high, and the railway transportation was organized safely, stably and orderly.

  On September 15th, the last day of the Mid-Autumn Festival vacation, major stations across China ushered in the peak of return passenger flow. National railways transported 13.4 million passengers on the day, 1.08 million more compared with that of last year, with a year-on-year growth of 8.8%, hitting a new high for the single-day ridership in the Mid-Autumn vacation. In order to meet passengers' travel demand for returning trips, a total of 7,102 EMU trains were operated on that day. This is also the first time that the number of EMU trains in operation on a single day has exceeded 7,000, setting a new record.
