2019 Summer Peak Season Begins With Over 700 Million Trips Expected

The railway summer peak season of 2019 formally starts on July 1st and is to end on August 31st. During the 62 days, 720 million trips are expected to be made, 53.84 million more than that during the same period last year, increasing by 8.1%. On average, 11.61 million trips are expected to be made every day. 

From July 10th, a new train operation diagram (TOD), i.e. the summer TOD will be applied to the railway network. After the adjustment, there will be 4,477 pairs of passenger trains, including 1,669 pairs of through trains and 3,310 pairs of EMU trains running on the network. For busy lines there will be 460.5 pairs of EMU trains standing by, which will enter service when needed. 

Meanwhile, a batch of newly-made Fuxing EMU trains will enter operation, providing high-quality services for more passengers. Optimization and adjustment will be made for the operation plan of 69 pairs of passenger trains in 14 cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Harbin, Shenyang, Changchun, Dalian, Wuhan, Jinan, Qingdao, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Xiamen, Nanning and Nanyang for their departure, terminal and passing-by stations . Passengers along the line will have more convenience for their traveling. High speed trains heading for Hong Kong will be available in 58 high speed railway stations in mainland, including Baiyangdian Station of Xiongan New Area. Travel time will be significantly shortened in some sections including Beijing-Qingdao, Beijing-Beihai, Nanning-Guangzhou, Nanning-Kunming, Shanghai-Luohe, Hami-Urumqi, etc.
