From July 1, Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway will be put into operation. As a booster to the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, the railway will shorten the travel time between Shanghai and Nantong to 1 hour and 6 minutes.

In China's high-speed railway network of "eight north-south lines and eight east-west lines", Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway is a component of the coastal corridor and also an important part of the second Beijing-Shanghai Corridor. Starting from Zhaodian Station of the existing Nanjing-Qidong Railway in Nantong, Jiangsu, the railway runs southward, crosses Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Rail-Road Bridge over the Yangtze River, and then passes through Zhangjiagang, Changshu, and Taicang in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and terminates in Jiading District of Shanghai, with a total length of 143 km and a design speed of 200 km/h. The railway is designed with 9 stations in total, namely, Zhaodian Station, Nantong West Station, Zhangjiagang North Station, Zhangjiagang Station, Changshu Station, Taicang Port Station, Taicang Station, Taicang South Station and Anting West Station.
